A home run to Yeider Chirinos in the second at bat of the game fired up the Venezuelans and gave the free swinging South Americans the confidence they needed having gone down to Japan 7-0 on day one of the championship. The Black Sox kicked off their International Test Series in Australia with a victory over Argentina 3-1. The highlights of the game were veteran NZ pitcher Heinie Shannon shutting down the Argentinian side allowing only 3 hits and 1 run, and captain Rhys Casley having 4 hits from as many at-bats. The lone Argentinian run was a solo home run in the bottom of the 5th inning from centre fielder German Sacks. The Black Sox played a double header against the Argentinian National team On Wednesday 20/6. The team bounced back with two excellent wins 7-5 in the first game and 7-1 in the 2nd game. Wayne Laulu has started the tour in magnificent form and hit 4 from 6 with another automatic home run, Wayne is happy with his performance to date but says the tour starts tomorrow with the first competitive tournament.

Seven will be the magic number for the six-time world champions heading into the 2015 WBSC Men's Softball World Championship in Saskatoon, Canada later this month. The Black Sox are now into the second leg of their tour, which began with a long drive from Calgary to Kelowna. The side will spend their time training and will play a double header against a local All Stars team. The Black Sox played two warm-up games against a local side, the Calgary Sox winning both games comfortably 8-0 with an impressive offensive display. His exceptional logistical skills are accompanied with a great understanding of the game and the various situations faced by both players and coaches.
Ben Enoka has represented the Black Sox at three world championships, while Thomas made his debut at the 2015 tournament after playing for Samoa in 2013. Jamie Frisby will join the Black Sox Management team as the new video analysis technician. Frisby a long-time member of the Parklands Christchurch United Devils and Canterbury Red Sox team will join the Black Sox as the teams builds towards the ultimate goal of a seventh world title. Softball New Zealand are delighted to be able to coordinate the Black Sox camp in an area that has taken quantum leaps in developing softball over the last five years.
